Leeds chef Matt Healy launches festive feasts

Award-winning chef Matt Healy is serving up delicious festive feasts, including a bottomless wine option for Christmas Day.

Matt Healy x The Foundry in the city centre, which is included in the Good Food Guide 2020, has launched its Christmas menu which is available now.

Meanwhile, The Beehive in Thorner, which was recently awarded a five-star food hygiene rating, has launched a Christmas party menu, and for one day only – on Christmas Day – guests can put their feet up and let The Beehive team do all the work, with a glass of champagne on arrival, three courses, and bottomless fine wine during their visit.

Matt said: “Last year the festive season at The Foundry was a massive success and we can’t wait to welcome guests back through our doors to celebrate with us again.

“We’ve made a big decision to open on Christmas Day at The Beehive – it’s our first Christmas in Thorner and we want to do something extra special to help take the hassle out of Christmas Day.

“I’ll be at the helm preparing the food myself to give as many of my staff as possible the chance to enjoy the day off.”

He added: “Bookings are limited and are filling up fast, so we recommend making a reservation soon to avoid disappointment.”

The Beehive Christmas Day menu echoes The Foundry’s Christmas menu, with a range of starters including pork and pistachio terrine with cranberry and orange jelly, roast butternut squash velouté and gin-cured salmon with compressed melon and lemon gel.

Beef Wellington

Main courses include rolled turkey with all the Christmas trimmings, fillet of Beef Wellington with truffle duxelle and red wine sauce, beef cheek bourguignon with horseradish mash, roasted chicken breast with wild mushrooms and pearl barley, and a mushroom, spinach and goat’s curd wellington.

Desserts include a traditional Christmas pudding with Christmas pudding ice-cream, chocolate orange tart, rhubarb crème brûlée and a selection of cheese, quince and sourdough.

The Beehive Christmas Party menu, which is available now, offers starters such as smoked salmon with lemon and caperberries, spiced sweet potato with watercress, pomegranate, yogurt and mint, French onion soup with grilled cheese crouton, and chicken liver parfait with cranberry and orange jelly.

Selection of cheese, quince and sourdough

Main courses include roasted turkey with all the trimmings, The Beehive Christmas burger with bubble and squeak and cranberry cheese, salmon en croûte, and slow-roasted winter tomato tart.

For dessert, diners can choose from a dark chocolate tart with vanilla cream, baked apple and plum crumble with vanilla custard, and a traditional Christmas pudding.

Matt Healy x The Foundry has won countless awards since its launch last year, including Best City Centre Restaurant at the Oliver Awards, Newcomer of the Year at the Yorkshire Life Food and Drink Awards, and Britain’s Best Roast Dinner.

The Christmas Party Menu at The Foundry costs £45 per person, The Beehive Christmas Party menu is £25 per person, and the bottomless Christmas Day menu is £150 per person.
