Harrogate’s Slingsby Gin celebrates £10m sales mark

Premium Gin brand, Slingsby recently announced that it has hit the £10m worth of sales mark. The Harrogate-based brand, which is going from strength-to-strength as it enters its fourth year of production in Summer 2019, has also witnessed an impressive year-on-year growth of retail sales value in grocery at 147%.

The award-winning range of spirits, which are made using locally sourced botanicals and some of the finest ingredients from around the world, bears the name of William Slingsby, the first to discover the restorative properties of Harrogate’s famous spa water wells.

Co-Founder of Spirit of Harrogate, Marcus Black, comments: “This year is going to be big for us, Slingsby has just turned four years old and we have now hit the £10m sales milestone and we couldn’t be happier.

“We have gone bigger than ever this year, from the launch of our Summer Series campaign which has seen us partnering with some of the biggest sporting events of the year including the BMW PGA Championship, Chestertons Polo in the Park and Cowes Week, to making big plans for our next flavoured gin to thank our local customers who have supported us from the very beginning.”

In just one year, flavoured gin has grown its share in the overall gin category from 10.8% to 29.6%*, and with seven award-winning variants, it’s Slingsby’s flavoured gins including Yorkshire Rhubarb Gin and Gooseberry Gin which have significantly contributed to the brand’s growth over the last 12 months.

Co-Founder of Spirit of Harrogate, Mike Carthy, added: “We’re looking forward to the rest of 2019 and to see how far and wide we can take the Slingsby brand over the next few years. We will continue to experiment with new flavours and carry on innovating within the drinks market, while expanding our exporting abilities.”

The gin brand also recently scooped five awards in the 2019 Gin Masters and two awards in the Singapore World Spirits Competition, bringing the brands overall award total to 43.

The Gin Masters competition is hosted by The Spirits Business, and offers brand owners, producers, distributors and retailers the opportunity to be part of a series of blind-tasting competitions, in a drive to find and reward the finest brands on the world stage. Slingsby’s London Dry won silver in both the Ultra-premium and London Dry categories, whilst Rhubarb and Gooseberry took silver and gold respectively in the flavoured category. Slingsby Navy Strength was victorious and came in first in the Navy Strength category.

At the Singapore World Spirits Competition, Slingsby London Dry Gin was awarded sliver in the gin class and Slingsby Yorkshire Rhubarb Gin took bronze in the flavoured gin category.
