Soanes Head of Sales and Marketing, Carolyn Pennock

The team at an East Yorkshire poultry business are celebrating after being highly commended in a prestigious meat industry award. Middleton-on-the-Wolds-based Soanes Poultry won the award for its Grain Fed Chicken in the Best Poultry Product in the annual Meat Management awards.

The winners of the 2018 Meat Management Industry Awards were announced on 24th May during a glittering celebratory dinner at Hilton Birmingham Metropole, attended by around 400 guests.

The awards is the latest in a string of awards for Soanes Poultry’s Grain Fed Chicken, having won Best Fresh Meat category and overall Supreme Product at the deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards 2017 and having been awarded a gold star at the Guild of Fine Foods Great Taste Awards in 2016.

Soanes Poultry’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Carolyn Pennock is delighted that the industry has acknowledged the superior taste of its chicken: “It’s great to win consumer awards, but to know that your industry peers also value your products is very rewarding.

“We are dedicated to the provenance of our product and animal welfare, so it is a real honour for the whole team to win this award.”

The Meat Management Industry Awards are a celebration of the creativity, innovation and excellence of the UK’s meat industry. The awards consist of reader voting and product entries to determine the best in the industry, as chosen by Meat Management readers together with a select judging panel for product evaluation.

Soanes Poultry was established in 1947 and rears over 5m chickens on its Yorkshire farms.
