A horticultural haven awaits at The Lost & Found Sheffield

Botanically-inspired, The Lost & Found has taken root on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, inviting guests to sample, feast and sip on seasonal dishes and creative cocktails. Mythical professor of horticulture and conservationist, Victoria B Darcy, is the inspiration behind the new restaurant and bar in Sheffield, where hidden doors lead to secret gardens and a fantasy world of flora and fauna.

A BLOSSOMING STORY

Something of a rebel, Victoria B Darcy came from a well-respected family of industrialists, however, she followed her heart to become a professor of horticulture. Despite her father’s work, she began to see the polluting effect the industry was having on the environment and her study of botanicals soon became intertwined with her new-found passion for conservation. She began turning the urban landscape into beautiful gardens and planting lush greenery wherever she could; an idea certainly ahead of its time.

Drawing inspiration from Sheffield’s heritage and its location near the Botanical Gardens, The Lost & Found juxtaposes strong industrial elements and raw materials with softer floral features. Moss green walls and Victorian style furniture in rich velvets and soft buttery leathers give a relaxed all day feel to the bar, whilst decadent chandeliers and a cherry blossom feature ceiling are made for Instagrammers. With spaces for every occasion, from the heated outdoor patio to the sun-dappled conservatory and secret bar, The Lost & Found provides the perfect hideaway for parties big or small.

FABULOUS FEASTS

The all-day menu features the best of British ingredients with an array of seasonal fare including wagyu beef burgers; mussels in a cream and white wine sauce; and a vegan chipotle & quinoa chilli with avocado cream alongside a host of hand-finished crispy pizzas and steaks from the grill. Come Saturday, tables will be filled with bottomless brunchers tucking into staple dishes of Turkish eggs or buttermilk pancakes whilst sipping flutes of prosecco or mimosas. For the ultimate winter warmer, bring the week to a close with hearty roasts served every Sunday with all the trimmings. Meanwhile, afternoon tea guests can indulge in perfectly decorated sweet treats and finger sandwiches.

BLOOMING-GOOD COCKTAILS

Following in the footsteps of the five legendary professors who inspired The Lost & Found’s other venues, Victoria B Darcy’s signature cocktail is one of many unique floral creations served alongside contemporary twists on the classics, shaken and stirred by magnificent mixologists. Packed with the mystery of its namesake, the tipple is a mix of Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, Cointreau, Jasmine tea syrup, apple juice and lemon juice, Blossom bitters and Ms Better’s botanical foamer, garnished with thyme and dried rose petals.

Other creative concoctions are divided into ‘Lost’ and ‘Found’ serves; ‘Lost’ drinks include twists on favourites, such as Red Sky at Night, with Plymouth gin, crème d’abricot, red peppers, orange juice, lemon juice and sugar syrup finished off with grenadine syrup and oak & smoke bitters. ‘Found’ cocktails feature The Earl’s Cup with Sipsmith gin, crème de mûre, cinnamon syrup, apple juice, lemon juice and angostura bitters, as well as Fruits & Flora, a fresh serve of Absolut vodka, maraschino liqueur, black cherry jam, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and vanilla syrup, topped with elderflower tonic.

An impressive selection of spirits, craft beers and an extensive wine list including a range of old and new-world favourites, prosecco and champagne ready to pop for any occasion complete the drinks offering.
