The Grand, York, is partnering with Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre, the first of its kind in Europe, for the second year running to offer visitors a choice of exclusive experiential packages, breakfast included.
As one of York’s top summer attractions, the pop-up theatre, open from 25 June – 1 September 2019 is now bookable in conjunction with an overnight stay at York’s finest address and only AA rated five-star hotel in the city, The Grand, York.
Inspired by the London Rose Playhouse of 1587, Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre offers audiences mesmerising productions of the world’s best-loved plays at the foot of the iconic 13th century Clifford’s Tower. The authentically constructed playhouse sits within a unique Shakespearean village, where guests can explore the ornate Elizabethan garden, feast on delectable Yorkshire fayre and enjoy a variety of entertainment including jesters and minstrels. Visitors will be immersed in a production of Hamlet, The Tempest, Henry V or Twelfth Night, imitated as an original Elizabethan experience.
The theatre’s hotel partner of choice, The Grand, York will offer guests either a classic or premium package to continue in style with a luxury stay steeped in Edwardian grandeur. In keeping with a display of cultural and historical grandiose, the hotel’s building retains much of its original architecture and features, including Belgian marble and cream Huddlestone stone.
While both packages include tickets and breakfast, the premium experience will also offer guests an in-room check-in service with welcome goodies, a delectable five-course tasting menu at fine-dining restaurant, Hudsons, and first-class chauffeur service.
Guests can also explore the culinary possibilities at The Grand, York’s brand-new cookery school, where the theatre’s actors will themselves be hosted to sharpen up their off-stage cookery skills with a Shakespearean twist.
Philip Bolson, general manager of The Grand, York, noted: “This is an important partnership for us to support the work of Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre and the greater draw of tourism to York. As we regularly get to know our guests and know that a lot of them stay with us throughout the summer with a purpose of visiting the theatre, it made sense to offer a combined package that offers streamlined convenience as well as first-class exclusivity. We look forward to working on many more initiatives with them in the coming months.”
Packages start from £242pp per night based on two adults sharing a room, including theatre tickets.
