Harrogate’s Slingsby Gin launches Summer Series campaign

For many gin drinkers, sporting events are a highlight in the social calendar. Harrogate-based premium gin brand, Slingsby, is celebrating this through the sponsorship of key sporting events with its Summer Series campaign. The campaign launched at the end of April, ahead of the Tour De Yorkshire, and offers Slingsby a range of exciting activations, advertising and branded promotional opportunities.

Slingsby aims to make sure the experience for spectators and those taking part at all events is as enjoyable as possible. The gin brand is giving visitors the opportunity to experience Slingsby and all that the brand stands for – ultimate relaxation, indulgence and socialising.  

Co-Founder of Spirit of Harrogate, Marcus Black, comments: “We have a heritage in sports association, so launching the Slingsby Summer Series campaign was a natural step for us to formally build on this. Throughout all the events we will be supporting this year our aim is for the Slingsby brand to be enjoyed by thousands – we want people to trial the product, learn more about our brand and our heritage in Harrogate. This year we have launched our new Gooseberry Gin variant and we can’t wait for people to taste it this summer.”

Slingsby kicked off the campaign at the Tour de Yorkshire road cycling race (2nd-5thMay), where their branded Land Rover featured in the tour caravan. The caravan ran two hours ahead of the men’s race on each day of the tour with the Slingsby team handing out branded goodies to spectators at each stop around Yorkshire. 

Whilst at Chestertons Polo in the Park (7th-9thJune), Slingsby is the Official Gin Supplier and the 28,000 visitors will be able to enjoy a refreshing Slingsby G&T from all the bars including the Fever-Tree Garden and Slingsby’s bespoke bar. Branded merchandise, bottle giveaways and presence at a number of Chestertons Polo in the Park events including the sponsor’s lunch and blogger event, will ensure Slingsby is an integral part of the atmosphere.

Slingsby is also the headline Gin supplier at Cowes Week (10th-17thAugust). The event offers a great mix of competitive sailing and social activities and Slingsby will be available on all of the bars throughout the week, as well as having a branded yacht setting sail in the 28-boat race around the island.

In September, the Slingsby Summer Series takes in yet another major international sporting event, with Slingsby named as Official Gin Sponsor of the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth Club (18th-22nd September). The partnership will see the Harrogate-based company sponsor the popular Championship Show Live music and entertainment stage, which will become the Slingsby Show Stage.  

The Championship attracts 100,000 visitors who will benefit from numerous exciting off-course activations, including interactive gin masterclasses and tasting sessions. Visitors may also enjoy the Official Championship G&T from one of three Slingsby Gin branded bars. The Slingsby Stage, meanwhile, will host a number of world-class music acts, with London electronic superstars Rudimental already announced. 

Finally, Slingsby continues its involvement in top-class local sport, sponsoring Yorkshire Country Cricket Club and Leeds Rhinos rugby league, both based at Yorkshire’s Headingley Stadium. This month saw the official North Stand opening celebrations at Headingley, with Slingsby hosting the drinks reception in the iconic Emerald Suite.
