Sheffield to take part in The Global Energy Race 2017

With just days to go until race day, New York Bakery Co is once again hosting the Global Energy Race, a one-of-a-kind running event taking place on 24th September across 38 cities in 21 countries and EatDrinkYorkshire readers can secure a 20 per cent discount!

The race will be an official Guinness World Record attempt for the most races taking place in the most cities around the globe, on a single day.

The UK edition of this global event will take place in the beautiful setting of Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, just a few miles from the home of New York Bakery Co. – hosts of the event and producers of up to a million authentic bagels each day.

Catering for all abilities from competitive runners, families, kids, parents with strollers and those new to running entirely, entrants can choose from a 3k, 5k or 10k distance. Every participant who registers will receive a collectable t-shirt and medal, while the fastest male and female finishers in the 10k race will win a trip for themselves and a companion to race in The Global Energy Race 2018 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Most importantly, for every kilometre run, New York Bakery Co. will donate a bagel to local food banks, in partnership with The Trussell Trust – UK Foodbank Network giving emergency food and support to people in crisis across the UK. This means that if a thousand people collectively run 10k, New York Bakery Co. will donate 10,000 bagels. But that’s not all, New York Bakery Co. will also donate every registration fee too!

The Global Energy Race 2017 will take place at Rother Valley Country Park, Rotherham on 24th September from 9am – 2pm. Registration starts from £5 for 3k, to register your place to race, visit http://www.globalenergyraceuk.com/ and be part of an official world record attempt! Every penny of your registration fee will be donated to The Trussell Trust UK Foodbank Network.
