Today M&S is launching the Yorkshire-made ‘Our Best Ever Steak Pie’ – the third in the collection of ‘Best Ever’ products at M&S. This ultimate pie, made by Malton producer Yorkshire Baker, follows on from the hugely successful Best Ever Burger and Best Ever Prawn Sandwich, both of which became instant bestsellers earlier this year.
M&S first started selling pies in 1934 and they’ve since become iconic, with the retailer now selling 42,000 a day to a loyal following of customers. This autumn customers are loving the collection more than ever before and sales are already up 10% on last year. Over 84 years Steak Pie has maintained its bestselling position and so the M&S experts decided to break pie boundaries and create a ‘Best Ever’ version with artisan producer Yorkshire Baker.
Our Best Ever Steak Pie is made with generous portions of tender British beef, butchered by hand and slow cooked for three hours. Its then combined with gravy made using roasting pan juices, smoked bacon lardons and caramelised onions. The indulgent filling is encased in an all butter short crust pastry and topped off with a hand crimped perfectly-golden all butter puff pastry top.
