This Christmas Comptoir Libanais in Leeds is helping inject some Middle-Eastern vibrancy and flavours into the festive celebrations with its Lebanese feasting menus.
Founder, Tony Kitous has worked with his team of chefs to create menus for the festival period that reflect the hospitality and warmth shown in homes across the Middle-East. Sharing dishes will fill the table giving guests the opportunity to taste the flavours of Lebanon together.
The Lebanese Christmas Feast, priced at £24.95 per person and launching on 20th November, has been designed by Tony and the team to create a playful twist on the traditional flavours they associate with Christmas and combining them with the fragrant herbs and spices of the Middle-East.
The menu offers a selection of five mezze dishes to share, including favourites such as Hommos – smooth rich chickpea puree with tahini and lemon juice and Turkey Kibbeh – minced turkey cracked wheat parcels filled with turkey, pine nuts and onions served with cranberries and mint yoghurt sauce. For mains, guests can enjoy Harissa and Honey Baby Chicken – roasted marinated baby chicken with spiced potatoes or they can opt for Lamb Kofta and Spiced Tahina – charcoal-grilled lamb kofta with spiced tahina, served with vermicelli rice . For those who enjoy fish at Christmas, the Salmon Shakshuka – marinated roasted salmon, in a spiced tomato, onion, peppers and chilli stew is sure to bring much comfort and joy.
The desserts will offer a grand finale to the meal and are served family-style with guests sharing them with each other, these include: Dark Chocolate and Red Rose Berries Cake – dark chocolate cake with orange and cardamom with mixed red berries compote and natural sour yoghurt and Spiced Christmas Rice Pudding – creamy orange blossom rice pudding with cinnamon and slow cooked dates, figs, apricots and sultanas, sprinkled with pistachios – perfect for Christmas and all served with a traditional fresh Rose Mint tea.
