Celebrity chefs all set for this summer’s Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival

This July will see Yorkshire chef James Martin and Aussie Masterchef John Torode appearing at The Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival at Funkirk Farm near Skipton. Taking place on Saturday 22nd July and Sunday 23rd July, the weekend promises to be a celebration of great food and drink, as well as providing excellent entertainment for the entire family.

James Martin said: “I had a great time entertaining the crowd at the event in 2016 and I’m really excited about coming back this year.”

This year the event has moved venue to accommodate growing visitor numbers. Around 15,000 are expected to attend the event and taste culinary delights from the 250-plus traders, street food and artisan producers.

Nigel Brown and his Cookery Academy will be joining the festival line-up to give visitors free cooking workshops and over ten chefs have been brought in to show off their gastronomic recipes in the Local Chefs Cookery Theatre as spectators listen to where the food comes from, how to get the best out of their pots and pans and watch four chefs go head to head in a cook off without knowing the ingredients they have to use.

Visitors will also get the chance to try craft beers and artisan sausages in the Beers and Bangers tent, while those that have always fancied themselves as a bit of a Tom Cruise won’t want to miss the wizardry of the pro bartenders that will be mixing, making and shaking up some fantastic cocktails in the Spirits and Cocktail Theatre.

For wine and/or cheese lovers, meanwhile, the Wine and Cheese tent will definitely be worth a visit with wine pairing and cheese tasting for those who attend the informative talks.

As a weekend family event there’ll be plenty for the children to do, from the Vintage Fun Fair and educational talks about birds of prey to a kids area full of fun activities to keep them occupied. There’s something for everyone.

For the first time since the Festival’s conception, visitors can make a full weekend of it, as camping is offered at reasonable rates, meaning they can enjoy the food and drink as well as taking in the rich heritage and great shopping of Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales if they wish to do so.

A family weekend camping (for two adults and up to three children including tent pitch) with tickets into the festival is just £62 when using the code: FREECAMPING (limited availability).

All this plus live music and entertainment makes The Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival one of the must go events of 2017. It is even dog friendly so visitors can bring along their four legged friends.
