York Distillery has announced two quirky festive events including a pre-Christmas gin, wine, beer and cheese tasting and an afternoon champagne tasting for party poopers on New Year’s Eve.
The pre-Christmas tasting provides drinkers with a much wider range of drinks than a normal tasting – for ‘’omni-drinkers’. It has cheese supplied by York’s Love Cheese too.
Tasting expert Emma Moore says: “Lots of us love more than just one type of drink. I’m a wine expert – but my true love is beer. And I love a range of spirits too – especially York Gin. And cheese is such a Christmassy accompaniment which pairs with literally anything – if you give it some thought. It’s a perfect event for us omni-drinkers!”
The tasting includes:
– Four wines including a sparkling variety
– Three premium beers
– A York Gin cocktail
– A variety of paired cheeses
Meanwhile the New Year’s Eve champagne event is specifically designed for people who want to mark the end of the year – but also want to get home well before midnight. ‘It’s a champagne tasting for party poopers’ jokes Emma.
She added: “Not everyone wants to be in a packed pub or bar on New Year’s Eve. But I know lots of people who want to celebrate the new year too. So this is an afternoon of celebration without the crowds and fuss of a full-blown night out.”

– Champagne geekery plus a fun quiz

The special festive events at York Distillery are in addition to their daily Sparkly Gin Tastings (with a Christmas welcome cocktail) and Festive Gin School where people can make their own unique bottle of gin – with the option of using seasonal botanicals like cranberries and oranges.
