With just one week to go before Chow Down, Leeds’ ultimate outdoor drinking, dining and entertainment experience will soon be back for 2022. Residing at Temple Arches, just a short walk from Leeds train station, Chow Down’s latest season is set to be its biggest yet as the venue heads downtown with a sun-kissed summer makeover.
For the first seven weeks, Chow Down will host Middle Eastern, North African and Mediterranean street food favourites MorMor and Italian pasta specialists Sarto as its first Resident Kitchens. The pair will be bringing fresh ideas and menus to Temple Arches before handing over the reins to further exciting Resident Kitchens throughout the summer. Exclusives from MorMor include their incredible mezze platters, BBQ chicken shawarma and oyster mushroom shawarma. On rotation will be deep fried shawarma tacos and their spectacular halloumi fries and cauliflower wings. Exclusives from Sarto will include their new Piadina (Italian flatbreads) menu, three of their mainstay pasta dishes (campanelle with pork ragu, rigatoni with chestnut mushrooms and radiatori with pomodoro and basil. They will also be serving up delectable bitesize arancini balls.
As well as mouth-watering food and top class entertainment, no summer themed party is complete without a few cocktails and at Chow Down there will be cocktails in abundance. Alongside exotic beach-ready cocktails such as a Tropical Spritz and a Sunset Mojito will be traditional favourites such as Espresso Martinis, Pina Coladas and Margaritas. Oh, and just because it’s Easter…a creme egg cocktail!
If cocktails aren’t your thing, then you will be pleased to know that the Chow Down team will once again be teaming up with their friends at North Brewing Co. for another exclusive collaboration.
Additions for 2022 include new resident food kitchens (Downtown Food Village), a three-tier sun terrace (Sunset Club), a nine hole alfresco crazy golf course (Palm Swings), the return of the cocktail bar (Tipple), themed bars (Tanqueray Terrace) and the ever-popular Drag Brunch. A whole host of live music acts will also be on hand to entertain, with Greg Wilson, The Cuban Brothers, DJ Paulette, Norman Jay, Shades Collective and Mr Wilsons Second Liners amongst the first names announced.
The Weekly changing Kitchens until the end of May include the likes of Bastards Bistro, Spuds and Bros, Little Red Food Truck, Twisted Meal, Tikka Chance on Me, Big Mouth Gyoza, Mans Market and new traders Bao to the Sando, keeping the line-up fresh with something different each weekend.
Eve Roodhouse, Chief Officer Culture and Economy, Leeds City Council: “Chow Down delivers just what people want right now – a place where friends can reconnect over good food, entertainment and in a safe environment. Chow Down also supports local indies which is more important than ever as we continue to recover from the economic impact of Covid-19. It’s a brilliant addition to Leeds and great to see it back for the summer season!”
Hugo Monypenny, Owner, MorMor: “It’s great to have Chow Down back and we’re so pleased to be bringing some exclusives with us to Temple Arches. Expect something a little bit different. We can’t wait to see everyone and get summer started early!”
Maisie Waters, General Manager, Chow Down: “Following on from the success of our beer collaboration last summer, we’re so excited to have made a trip back to Springwell to visit North Brewing Co. Together we brewed up another top tier collab for our upcoming reopening! Keep your eyes peeled as more info on our collab will be released very soon.”
